The children’s workshop on making handmade Easter candles, organized by the Saint John Cultural Association in collaboration with the team of the M. Idomeneos library and Mrs. Zoe Papadaki, was a resounding success! Held on Holy Monday morning in the library hall, Tantalou and Gaziou in Agios Ioannis, it welcomed children of all ages.

In the workshop, the children had the opportunity to make their own unique Easter candle from natural beeswax. They also got creative by painting a perforated wooden decorative design, which they then embroidered with the help of the friendly library ladies. All materials were provided free of charge, making this a fun and accessible activity.

The Easter candle workshop was a unique experience for the children. They came into contact with the traditional folk art of embroidery, letting their imagination run wild and spending some creative time. It was also a great way for them to learn about Greek Easter traditions and the significance of the handmade Easter candle.
