The Vourgiali collection in Nikos Kazantzakis museum

The “Vourgiali” collection by Ergastini is exclusively available through the museum shop and the online store of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum.

The collection is inspired by the woven bag used by Nikos Kazantzakis for his documents and books. Vourgiali (βουργιάλι) is the name we give to this kind of woven bag in Crete. Kazantakis’ bag dates back to the mid-19th century and was created in the region of Rethymno, Crete. We created the woven straps on an Inkle loom.
